I am a foremost expert on the fundamental R&D of high and ultra high temperature composites (materials synthesis and applications), high vacuum systems, and systems integration. C/C, SiC/SiC. C/SiC, HfC, HfB2, ZrC, ZrB2, C/B4C and other CMC's. Coatings as well. I have designed and built the systems to make them (with my own two hands) as well as make the materials at Universities, Raytheon Technologies and my home lab. I hold 3 patents and several more in the application stage (it's what's useful and producible that's important). I am a scientist/engineer in many areas; Physics, Aerospace, ME, EE, and materials science. Electric motor R&D, design and construction. See my resume or contact me for more information.
Using Labview to integrate, collect data and control my home built CVI system still in use, patented and purchased by Collins Aerospace and donated to UCONN to teach and do research.
This was an early design. Far more advanced and intricate now. Make my own fixtures out of ceramics and fire them. For context on my skills and knowledge, I built an x-ray machine in 8th grade (1977) to irradiate seeds and look at the growth rates and yield. Science fair project. Early GMO's. Argonne national lab loaned me the x-ray tube and I designed and built the rest of the electronics and containment myself.
All thermal measurement instruments. Above is a high temperature (1800 C) YAG LASER thermal diffusivity sample holder.
Polarized light microscope image of a Carbon-Carbon Composite made in my home lab.
Can machine virtually anything out of almost any material. My designs are made in Solidworks and Autocad.
